Bulk Messaging Services will be a key revenue generator for the next generation of value added services that build on the popularity and advantages offered by simple SMS based communication services. Bulk Messaging Services enable
operators to move up in the value chain from the existing Person to Person (P2P) messaging services to the Application to Person (A2P) messaging services, thereby opening up additional revenue channels for the wireless operator.

Jataayu Bulk Messaging Gateway
Jataayu Bulk Messaging Gateway (jBMG) enables Mobile Service Providers to manage push based services with multiple forms of content from multiple content providers more efficiently and effectively. It is a completely integrated gateway that serves messages generated from an application to mobile users. jBMG delivers messages to mobile users using the existing infrastructure of the wireless operator.

Jataayu Bulk Messaging Gateway serves multiple forms of content like text, ringtones, logos, images, audio, video, downloads, games, alerts, push notifications to mobile subscribers using SMS, WAP & MMS messaging. The Bulk
Messaging Gateway connects to a network infrastructure on one side, and to applications on the other. Jataayu’s Bulk Messaging Gateway acts as a bridge between the network and applications, to push content to mobile subscribers.

Overview

  • The Bulk Messaging Gateway is built on the strengths of Jataayu’s Carrier Grade Infrastructure products - SMS Gateway, WAP Gateway & Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC).
  • The service exposure layer allows content/applications to interface with jBMG over multiple interfaces - CIMD/HTTP/HTTPS/PARLAY/SMPP/FTP/WEB/ PI/MM7.
  • The message delivery layer interfaces with operator services infrastructure for the various types of message transport such as SMS Gateway, WAP Gateway and the MMSC.
  • The content provider management module is responsible for managing multiple content partner relationships and governing their usage of the jBMG infrastructure. Other modules such as billing, OA&M and reports &
statistics modules are responsible for their respective functions.

Key Features

Interface

The Bulk Messaging Gateway provides an easy plugin interface for third-party content-providers. It manages multiple content providers and provides a seamless interface to communicate with the network infrastructure irrespective of underlying protocols. Bulk Messaging Gateway supports HTTP, HTTPS, CIMD, SMPP, FTP, WEB, PI (for WAP Push), MM7 (for Multimedia Messages) protocol interfaces.

Access & Control

The operator can provision content provider applications to facilitate these services. The content provider can internally create the second level user to manage their applications & content. The operator can control users based on protocol, IP address, destination number, message type, launch and expiry date.

Priority

jBMG allows the operator to give precedence to the content provider for delivery of messages. Content providers can also give preference to their messages submitted to the Gateway.

Quota

The rate of pushing messages per user can be timebased i.e. per hour or per day or per week, ... etc..

Schedule Delivery

jBMG enables the Content Providers to schedule delivery timings for submitted messages. The delivery schedule is set by various applications connecting to the gateway.

Validity Period

Validity period is enabled by the various applications connecting to the gateway. It enables a content provider to specify the time at which submitted messages expire.

Load Distribution Validity period is enabled by the various applications connecting to the gateway. It enables a content provider to specify the time at which submitted messages expire.

Reports & Statistics
Reports give statistical data on usage characteristics for submitted messages. Information like application access during a month, week, and day or even during an hour can be provided. Reports also provide statistics like the number of requests that were served successfully and number of requests that end up in failure.
Delivery Status The Bulk Messaging Gateway stores the status of submitted messages in CDRs. An operator using a call back facility can provide this information online to the content provider.
Billing CSoftwareDR files are maintained for each application. This information can be used for providing billing functionality according to requirements. The CDRs contain information like the message submitted, time stamp, recipient mobile number and the status of the submitted messages.
