Management System
jCalendar is a personal information
management system that allows users to plan, manage and organize their events
/ information in an efficient way. It uses a central repository system that can
be accessed from anywhere in the world. It allows users to access and manage the
personal information like appointments, schedules, To Dos, Contacts etc using
a WAP/WEB interface, through any standard WAP/WEB browser. The system also sends
alert notifications over e-mail and SMS to end users. This helps the users to
organize their day to day activities in a more effective and productive manner. Architecture

| Appointment
Scheduler |
A scheduler helps in
organizing a user’s appointments and activities efficiently. A snapshot of appointments
can be viewed effectively showing the user’s current position on appointments.
Appointments can be defined at any date in the future. Reminders can be set on
these appointments that will prompt the user remindeing him of his schedules /
appointments. Invites can be sent to various people by choosing names from an
address book. | |
To Do’s | To
Do’s are a list of tasks to be completed by the user by a particular date and
time. Users can create any number of To Do’s. Reminders can be set and dispatched
to the user. A To Do has a status, which can be toggled between Complete
and Incomplete modes.
Warnings will be dispatched to the user for all incomplete To Do's that cross
the specified date. |
| Repeating
events |
Repeating events are
events that will be stored permanently and occur at regular intervals. Repeating
events can be set to occur daily, weekly, monthly and annually. Reminders can
be set for these events that prompt the user for action. |
| Notes |
Notes are used as an
information repository. Notes can be used for maintaining vital information like
passwords, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, etc. They are identified
by a name and will have two descriptions associated with them. Notes can be classified
into user-defined categories |
| SMS
Alerts | The reminders
can be sent as SMS to users on their mobile phones, in addition to normal e-mail
alerts. The system also allows sending of alerts to group of people so that the
meetings/ appointments can be organized more effectively. |

Address Book |
Users can store the
names and addresses of contacts in an address book. Addresses can be searched
and retrieved quickly. Groups can be created and names can be assigned to groups.

| Diary |
A diary is used by
users to record their daily activities. Users enter their activities for the day
and save the same. Provision for updating the previous days’ diary contents is
