Provisioning Platform [jOTA] brings the power of device provisioning and handset
management for MMS and WAP. Over-the-Air provisioning is a critical element in
service deployment and in WAP 2.0 has been made a integral part of the specification.
jOTA provides
comprehensive provisioning capabilities for both proprietary as well as standard
based WAP/MMS phones. The system is scalable, portable and offers high performance. It
supports WAP 2.0 provisioning specification and also'proprietary' WAP provisioning
specifications of Nokia, Ericsson. As shown in the figure, the Provisioning Manager
is the core engine of the provisioning system. Its function is to create OTA setting
profiles, generate Provisioning XML documents, encode using WBXML specifications,
and deliver them through SMS or WAP channels. The Interface Server will be implemented
as a TCP/IP service. The Provisioning Client API is a C/C++ API library for requesting
content profiles creation and modification, delivering provisioning content document
to a specified mobile number. The admin interface, due to its web-based nature,
can be accessed from a remote system if the network permits routing of requests
to this system from remote stations. Architecture

Based Administration: |

jOTA provides a simple
API which allows applications to integrate with other
provisioning systems. The API is available in C and Java on most platforms. |

Bulk Provisioning: |
Bulk provisioning allows
the administrator to send provisioning data to a large number of subscribers.
The Bulk Provisioning Utility is a command line utility which will take a list
of phone numbers and models and the parameters to provision the handset. |

Extension to other
Channels: |
jOTA can be extended
based on requirements to other subscriber interfaces for example SMS and IVR based
request to provision. |
